49 Merc Drums onto some early stub axles...?

I'm sure that it shouldn't be to hard to adapt, but thought I'd ask anyhow.

I've been helping my brother with his 49 merc, to which, there's a few 'leftovers', with his functional front drum ***emblies teasing me....as my 28 rpu needs some 'appropriate' stopping power. Now, I need to find some new stubs to adapt these too, but thought I'd see if anyones played with these before, as whilst I've seen numerous other adaptions, I can't recall seeing the mercs drums fitted to anything.

Anyone 'been there, done that?' curious to learn before I invest time with a set of verniers and a lathe.

    Cheers, and thanks in advance,

    Drewfus:)
