Got the rear quarter window done... I am really happy with the shape and how it turned out... i wont bore you guys with how i did it.. My last post basically shows how i did it, so there's no need to repost it lol

Just a small update for those who are following along on my first attempt to build a custom...The passenger door is finished on the outside... i have reshaped every window corner on this thing.... The lower rear quarter window radius matches the door top radius and the upper rear quarter window radius matches the lower door rear window radius... if that makes any sense lol... I think it looks uniform now.. something very subtle that nobody will ever notice...

Is that 4" vertical height, or 4" out of the A pillars?

 

4" out of the A pillar and almost 5"
in the rear

 

Its been a whike since i posted any progress pics, got the passenger top finished and then got into the bottom of it, there was some really crude body work done . The door was caved right in and they just slathered it with mud. So i had to break out the pin welder, pull it, hammer dolly shrink and repeat... its pretty close now, 1 more round should get it.

 

Then i started the back window.. the part i was dreading the most... i feel a little better now that its all roughed in...

 

I think Gene Winfield would approve.

i came across this thread recently and can only say i really enjoyed it. What a good job on the metal and the cuts are precise and stick to the correct proportions! It will definitely be a merc that will show off with panache and arrogance on the roads. Well done and that the damn rust does not appear anywhere else. And I agree with 50 merc man: I would like you to cut mine!

Thanks Jeff..... i try my best... i dont have as much talent as alot of the fellas out there... i just get by.

 

Ill catch hell for it, but I didnt hate the gasser version. I didnt like it either, but i didnt hate it.

That’s right! Only a sick puppy would do that to a Mercury, there are much better cars to make into gassers
