Projects 49 mercury

    So this is what i started with. a real nice 49 standard engine,box steering and brakes.Ran pretty nice too[​IMG]
    Started to de clutter it and make it my car,lose the visor,change the grille and hub [​IMG].Lance at romance of rust smoothed out the side lights and got rid of some rust too[​IMG][/URL[​IMG]

    Changed the engine and box 350/350,Jamco suspension and brakes.Engine and box was fitted by Marco juarez who did a great job of fitting everything without any modifications to the [​IMG][/URL[​IMG]

    [​IMG]Car runs really strong steers and stops nicely .rewired using cloth style wiring where it could be seen.Had the original radio converted to modern internals and ipod fitting in glovebox[​IMG]bought the wheel from dennis at quality restorations

    Took the car to Simon at paintbox who rounded the corners of the bonnet ,flushed the skirts,fitted the lincoln door buttons and packard trim.Cutting out lots of bad rust repairs previously done[​IMG][/URL[​IMG][/URL[​IMG][/URL[​IMG][/URL[​IMG][/URL[​IMG]

  19. Great start and can't wait to see the haircut. [emoji1] Love that steering wheel. All you guys with the '53 grille make me wanna consider a swap. Dad's '51 Merc had the same grille in '57.

    the car is at Marco's in brighton,his metal and fabrication skills are excellent,plus he has an amazing eye for detail.
    After studying hundreds of pictures and magazines,how to chop articles. it was decided to cut three inches straight across and then step back and look.

    The more we looked the more we liked it as it is. Just like an early buick or caddy coupe.Straight posts
    opening rear windows. It should look like it was standard[​IMG][/URL[​IMG]

    The back window was Marcos main worry,and also mine! He's done two real nice shoeboxes under his belt amongst others,and if anyone could do it,it was him[​IMG][/URL[​IMG][/URL[​IMG]

    Damn fine metalwork. Was that just paper used on there for masking? Wouldn't that be a fire hazard?

    It was thick wallpaper to protect as much as possible.The paint is pretty good.The metal was firstly stripped with rolloc dics .didnt have any problems.
