49 pontiac rear end ?

I've got one we took out of a stright 8 car, and was thinking about using it in some other project. Some one told us that it was pretty well bullet proof as far as using it with small blocks or flatheads. Anyone got any input good or bad. I'd like to hear it. Thanks HAMB

 

I think they are the same as the early Olds rears. drop out center section. Strong and beefy,they were favorite of drag racing for years.Depending on the ratio,it would do well to use it.Sparky

 

Just hard (and costly) to find parts if something goes wrong.
