No, I replaced the bearing bush with a new one. But it had to be reworked, the adjusting screw was touching, you can see the thread impression, I had to mill it free a bit so that the bearing could be adjusted. Adrian is a household name, he drives the Model A as a daily driver and lives the 1930s, cool guy. Oh... I can get parts, it's just a bit more difficult and expensive, and it's no different for Adrian. I have friends in the same Model A club as Adrian, and I ask them if I'm looking for a specific part. His videos are always very informative. Greetings Harald
Hi Harry. What size and Make of Tyre are you using on the Back? Your photo of the one in Romo Really looks nice. Do you know what size are on that one? Thanks From Dave . UK.
I like it a lot too, I'll be using 5.50 and 7.00x16 on my 16" wheels, I guess that's what the Römö Racer has too. Greetings Harald
The front spring was disassembled and cleaned. I turned the bottom leaf over. The 2nd leaf was shortened, the 8th and 9th leaves were left out and shortened and put back under the spring. All spring leaves were painted black. Finally, graphite lubricant was applied to the leaves and everything was put back together. Best wishes, Harald
The brake drums were separated from the hub, I opened the bolts from the press with a hole cutter. Then the bolts came out very easily. I disassembled and cleaned the front backing plates, and welded up and straightened the worn areas on the roller tracks. Greetings Harald
It's nothing crazy that I'm building, it should work out with the registration. At the moment I can only do small things, actually I wanted to put the engine together, but my engine repairer is very slow and my parts are still shipping around the Atlantic and won't be available until next month. Now I've removed the tank to replace the surrounding Seal, it's fantastic that all the screws can be opened cleanly. The inside of the tank is rust-free, isn't that fantastic? The fuel gauge was overhauled at the same time. Greetings Harald
I installed this banjo steering wheel on the steering column of a Model A. I had to modify the adapter, which was supposedly the correct one, to make it fit the cone. I wanted to position the steering wheel as tightly as possible on the steering column, so I threaded the adapter through from the inside and secured it. The adapter was turned to fit so that it slid into the steering wheel hub. Everything fit together perfectly. The fuel tank has been reinstalled with a new seal, and the windshield has also been reinstalled with new rubber seals. All minor work; the parts are still not in Germany, so we're waiting. I was able to pick up the rear spring, the spring eyes were turned, and everything was reassembled. Regards, Harald
Hi, i’m from Belgium and did a M41 conversion with open drive on my B engine, now i’m building the M41 behind a 37 flat8 for my 32 sedan. But i’m curieus where to get the M40/41 gearbox closed drive conversion kit in Germany ? Regards, Filip
Hi, it's a good conversion. I can help you; I got my conversion parts from him: https://piston-knockers.com/parts-2/ Regards, Harald
My parts are still in the container, the engine isn't finished either—should I be upset? No. We're doing some minor work, like making a jig for pressing the wheel bolts. I also installed the rooftop, which I actually wanted to do once the cab was back on the frame. Plans are there to be changed. Then I'll clean and preserve the firewall. Regards Harald.
I started building the manifold, it is made of normal pipes, bends and a 4-1 collector and the manifold plate, I took the most used design and used it, welded it with MAG and then sanded, finally it will be painted with black exhaust paint. Greetings Harald
I'm back on track, my parts finally arrived, and I can get things done again. I just got new front brake pads, the brake drums were re-pressed with the hubs and new wheel bolts, and I still need to have the brake drums turned out. The spindles got new bushings and are in a workshop where they're being reamed to fit. The 31' shackles are getting bushings to fit the 32' spring perches. Things are slowly getting back on track. Unfortunately, the engine isn't finished yet, but progress is slowly being made there, too. Greetings Harald
My spindle bushings are reamed and mounted with new bearings that are shimed, the rear drum plates are attached, my drums have been turned out and will be picked up today. Greetings Harald
I installed the brake shoes; I got a floater kit from Snyder's for that. Unfortunately, the brake wedge was jamming because the rollers were being pinched by the brake shoe, which was annoying. The rear washer is too thin, so I used the original washer and that solved the problem. It works as it should. On the right side, I couldn't get the brake drum over the brake shoes, so I reworked the pads. Then I swapped the adjuster for one from the 32'. That was even worse, but it seemed to have cleared the thread a bit. After that, I was able to turn the one from the 31' back further, and the drum now runs freely. The old man is a bit reluctant, but we'll work it out. Regards, Harald
In order to assemble the axle, I still need the shock absorber mount, which should also fill the 1/4 inch gap between the wishbone and the axle, this is what I have now. Greetings Harald
