Vacuum leak, tighten up the carb to the intake again. Or spray carb cleaner around the base of it when its running. If it stumbles, there's your leak. Also check for cracked hoses and rubber lines going to the carb.

Also there is a ****** fitting on the bottom of carb at the front. Is that supposed to be open?

Well what do you know....The vacuum advance "cone" shaped piece on the dizzy has no hose on it...just open. Also there is a fitting on the block or plate that attaches to the front of carb body then the bowl attaches to it. Well that fitting has a rubber cap on it. Is that supposed to be capped? its on the p***enger side of carb but on the front.

    Here are a few pics.

The first picture is the front base of the car on p***enger side. There is a fitting that isnt plugged or being use. My finger is pointing right at it. Also on the metering block in front see that rubber cap on that fitting? What should go there?

This picture shows the vacuum advanc has no hose on it/ Where should this go?

This picture shows the breather hose going to the base of carb

This last picture shows the hose coming off of the fitting on the vacuum port of intake splitting off to the brake booster and trans.

Leave it be son. Oh, check all your vac hoses and any other rubber caps for splitting or cracking. Your getting closer!

That carb may be for a specific application that needed another vacuum port, which your engine doesn't. Just make sure it's capped off and not ****ing air.
Another reason it may be model specific carb is that the pcv (the one your breather is connected to) is usually in the front of the baseplate not the side like yours.

Ok cool will do. So for now I have to see what size that hose will be and get a couple feet of it.

The port you're pointing at is manifold vacuum (full time) and the one with the cap is ported vacuum (no vacuum at idle).

So just follow the orders as stated before ? Keep the one plugged and other on base connect to advance?

Yup! You'll need some 5/16 vacuum line to hook it up.

Perfect! So off to the parts store I go in he morning. I think I might aswell do the spark plugs while im at it. They were a but black and looked fouled and smelled like it was running a bit rich. What brand and model of plugs should I get? Gap?

See the charts for plug selection/engine year. Gap will be given for the plug selected. .035 is a 'standard' for a typical SBC. Put the freshies (Steve Irwin) in after the fine tuning.

Delco are fine. The heat range/part number is key. What are the old ones?
