Hey guys, I've got an all original 283 in my '64 Chevy p/u, it's pretty tired. Im planning on rebuilding it soon with a vintage cam grind and a little bump in compression. Anyway, I've got an old carter AFB and an old Rochester 4GC. I'd like to use one of these carbs, but I don't know what size they are (or how to tell). Any thoughts? Would one be better than the other? Are both a bad choice? I also would need to track down an intake either way. Any advice would be appreciated.

Either should work fine,I have used both.

  3. Find the numbers on them and post them here or look them up online to get the cfm size. Like for like carbs, Id run the AFB, but thats just preference.

Will do. I'm inclined to run the AFB just because it is similar to an edelbrock, which I have some experience with. I've never dealt with a 4GC or quadrajet.
