What is the best way to set one of these intakes up in series or progressive. my now is in progressive center two then outside ones just starting a new 331 hemi and it turned the coated headers gray fast except for the 1st tubes .timing at 30
The balance tube between each carb is too small to feed fuel to outer ports if you're only running the center 2. There is no real plenum on these manifolds. In order to get these to run right you have to run all the carbs, no progressive. Progressive won't feed enough fuel, the manifold is just not setup to run like that. THis is how my engine is setup up at least, it's a 291 DeSoto hemi, pretty warmed up as well.
I just got a WC4D for my 265 which is not the same thing but I have been given similar advice as Minewithnoshine gave. I guess the Weiands don't work well if anything is blocked off. I guess it's an intake that separates the man from the boys....damn, I am probably the latter.
Yup! There's a whole chapter in Tex Smith's hemi book on setting them up. Kerry on here said be built an add on plenum box on top his intake & did well with it.
I sent this intake and carbs to vintage speed been about two years ago now to rebuild carb & replate & build new linkage they set it up progressive I spoke to him about it he said it would work . but this week end i will be check all carbs to verify jet sizes and change to progressive
The Weiand is not an open plenum and some of the cylinders will lean out with progressive linkage. You must run straight linkage with that manifold.
Please, don't do it. Many others have already stated the reason why. The manifold was designed to run with straight linkage, and run that way it does. I am using one on a Chrysler so I know this to be true. The engine runs very well on the street with straight linkage and is not ill mannered.
I'm running that manifold on my 354 with direct linkage and it runs very well > As others have said do not try to run progressive linkage.
now that i have found and bought a weiand wc245 4x2 intake for my car, i would like to buy a set of rebuilt stromberg 97s and a set of the bell air cleaners like in the picture any ideas of who to go to buy a set of rebuilt stromberg 97s that are good and ready to go with a good rep?
are there lower CFM 3 bolt carbs that can be used on the wc245 that would make this intake more streetable.
Can't help with the bells but UNCLE MAX here on the HAMB just did four for me in record time and they are beautiful!
