I did the exact same thing (except I used an Edelbrock carb). No problems. Idles fine. Somewhere I have a video of it idling.

It's an easy swap. Unlike s****ping the EFI parts like TommyD is planning on, I sold mine. I didn't get much, but it paid for the Edelbrock manifold. :)

As much as I have a lot of Holleys and parts and jets . The Mustang EFI is solid and well supported aftermarket . The EFI will idle good and make very good power stock or mildly modified . It is easy to tune and upgrade as needed

There is absolutely NOTHING ****py about hypereutectic pistons. That's BS folk lore. IN fact you can run tighter tolerances with them which is a good thing. If you don't run too much timing and don't run it too lean it'll last as long as a forged piston. They only time the hyper pistons fail is when they are asked to perform beyond their design capabilities. Blowers, turbos and nitrous - when improperly tuned - ****ter hyper pistons. And will do the same with forged pistons. Forged pistons are more forgiving in these situations. But if you aren't planning to run a blower, turbo or NOS, don't worry about it...AT ALL.

Car Craft made 405 hp at 6200 rpm and 380 ft-lbs at 4300 with a 100,000 mile garage rebuild 302 with just aluminum heads, 1.7 roller rockers, a Weiand stealth intake and a 625 carb. They used an OE mustang HO camshaft.

The EFI intakes are not very pretty but they work and make the "little" 302 act like a much larger engine with much improved efficiency. My non-HAMB '90 Mustang GT regularly knocked out 23 mpg at 70-72 mph with 3.73 gears and 26" tires. And I have a B303 camshaft in the car which gives a nice rumble and a little bit more power (not a ton). Heavy car too (almost 3600 lbs with me in it). Knock 1000 pounds off it and it'd be a hell of lot of fun and dead rock reliable.

  5. On my Ranchero it had the E303 cam, 25# injectors, 76mm throttle body and an 80mm m*** air, Explorer upper and lower manifold and 3:23 gears and it would scream!! I took the guy that i got from for a ride when i finished the change over and he was floored as to the difference over the carb set up, and the cam i pulled out was bigger than the E cam i put in.
