well, that's karma for you. maybe now you'll want to give us our plaque back before it curses the rest of this project.

  2. See, that's what I figured, one would turn up.

By the way, 49-52 hoods are the same except for the badge and ornament, they're fully interchangable. I do have a '51 hood but it lay on the ground and the left rear part of it is pitted and a little weak. Plus I have to find what the heck I did with it.

Mike- That issue has already been addressed. Your housemate is a founding member of the Kingpins and he will attest to that as I spoke to him personally about it on Jan.2. I have also left you a voice mail and you should speak to me personally. This is not the time or place for s&^$&$t talking over misunderstood car club stuff. I am absolutely available to discuss this or anything else you would like face to face in like grown ups at a time of mutual convenience.
    Thanks,
    Jesse
PS- Ryan, my apologies to you and the HAMB for this kind of nonsense . I am well aware that this is not the forum for it.

You couldn't see how bad it was from the headliner side?

Nope..But I hadn't removed surface rust yet( cause it's an easier job when the roofs off)..And even outside in the light all that is really visble is the area above the driverside b-pillar..But running a hand over it is a different story..It's kinda weird.

Cool barn door in first pic.

There is a junkyard in Amesbury that has at least two 49 or 50 or 51 chevy's but they are 4 doors. It is rigft off 495. I can get the name if you need to go that road. My thought is you could get it close with hammer and dolly and/or a shrinking disc. Just ask Mace69 on here what he accomplished with a shrinking disk.
    Later.

A great big thanks to isettajohn, who has graciously decided to let me cut the roof off the 2 door he posted above and sell it to me at a very fair price. We will be headed up to the Catskills on Sunday armed with sawzalls, tape, some tools, a trailer and hot coffee for some cold weather cutting and hauling. Looking forward to meeting a fellow Hamber in person who is so willing to "p*** it along"..BTW, I believe he has a 235 and a Powerglide available if anyone is interested.

That's to be expected on this era Chevy . Door bottoms and rockers are usually bad as well . National Chevy has rear quarters for 80 bucks apiece.

  14. Being you changed your mind about getting the donor roof, how is the chop coming along? Did you manage to straighten what you had? Any new photos?

Hi John, We are going to straighten out the roof (Hammer, dolly, heat...repeat...and probably one patch panel) starting on either Sat or Mon night and THEN chop it. I will post pics as soon as we do. Hope all is well!

A donor roof would give you the option to quarter the roof when you chop it as opposed to leaving the pillers and rear gl*** . Just a thought. Look up chevy54 car it was quartered and looks awesome.

Getting better. Thanks to the help of my good friend Jon (Metal Innovations here on the HAMB) and a lot of hammer, dolly, heat , shrink, repeat- We are getting the roof sorted out. Another long night and a small patch and I should be able to start an actual chop thread-

I am glad to see that you jumped in and fixed that top. Now the chop is going to be that much easier. Nice work.

    Hey,

That roof looks like a million bucks, now:D If you'd of gone with a replacement roof clip, you'd still be fighting with post & window opening alignment 'bout now.

There ain't no way in hell I'd quarter a roof panel on a chop for a vehicle like this:( You'll be much better off cutting your package shelf and backlight frame loose, moving the C Posts foward, and adding material to the Dutchman panel.
