The clock in my '50 Chevy didn't work so I took it apart and cleaned it very well and oiled it up, but I could only get it to run at the most for 15 sec. so I decided to put one of those craft type clocks that run on one AA battery in it. I wish I would have taken pictures along the way but I didn't think about it until I was finished. The clock, ash tray, lighter panel was pretty rusty in the back and the case for the clock was really rusty as well. After some wire wheel and sandpaper action I painted the case silver and the plate behind the bezel black. Also gave the "crystal" a good polish with some headlight polish. After cutting down the hands that came with the craft clock I soldered wires to the battery terminals and cut a slot in the wheel that is used to set the time(so the time can be set with a small screw driver). The clock body was hot glued into the original case, wires ran out the back and the whole thing assembled. I will either use a AA battery holder velcroed under the dash out of site, or perhaps wire up a 12 to 1.5 step-down circuit and hot wire the thing. I think it turned out pretty good, it was fun to do and cost $0. My wife is still looking for the clock that used to hang in our bathroom! -Keith By twistedpiston at 2012-06-13 By twistedpiston at 2012-06-13
