I have heard of jaguars being used as well as the Tex Smith way of converting to disk brakes, but I was wondering what companies people have used for an easier solution. I am a body man and I am certified to weld and do frame work, but the car is sitting in a very cramped 2 car garage and is not moving. Any help would be great. Thanks, Dan
unless ur real handy, i would just buy the kit. fast & easy to install PLUS parts are found at any parts house. when the word "Jag" is said all i hear is $$$$$$ hitting the cash box ....joe
They make quitea few kits etc for the 49-54 Chevys. They also make a Mustang 2 type crossmember but they are quite a bit of work. WWW.Chevytalk.com has a forum specifically for your year range. They have a lot of good info over there.
Buckle down and buy the kit. Everybody makes one. I did in the end. The biggest reason is the brackets and the bearing spacer. I did it by myself, without a kit, and it took forever. You can see what I did at: http://www.marcnischan.com/chevy/blowbyblow.html
