Hey, I was wondering what later model frames/chassis cou;d work for a 1950 Chevy Fleetline body. I heard something about late 70's Monte Carlo's? Any info would be appreciated...
Roothawg, I think you're right. I was thinking of a swap because my frame is looking really nasty, man! Plus I was thinking of doing a 350 SBC swap... so I figured it might be quicker, and cheaper to swap the chassis for a later model. But I might be naive in my thinking...

my 50 Chevy had a Nova front subframe (i did'nt do it) and even with front wheel drive offset rims (from Toranado) i had very limited steering radius. the tires would rub the fenders. it could work if the car sat nearly stock height but mine was lowered. the Nova (and Camaro) is TOO WIDE. i planned to use the front of an S-10 frame and build the rest from the firewall back from 2x4 tubing. the S-10 subframe is the right width. i assume you see so many with MII suspensions in them cause most subframes are too wide. i sold mine before i got to that point but thats how i'd do it if i get another. the S-10s are easy to airbag and easy to mount a Chevy V8 into, PLUS they can be had for cheap, parts are cheap and you can get dropped spindles and coils or tubular A-arms. whatever your heart desires and it is all on the low end of the price scale. compared to the same parts for other applications.
