I'm looking for information and/or leads to finding new door window channels for our 50 3100 5 window. Our channels ar missing/shot so they need replacing and I can't seem to find a vendor with any in stock. We also want to change out the stock exterior door handles for something from a later model truck that has the lock in the push button of the handle. Anyone already done this or have any ideas? Thanks, Bill
...I usually get my channels from the former Chevy Duty guy; think it's Classic Parts now or somethin like that, out of Kansas City Missouri. ...as far as the door handle change, the easiest way would be to install 52-3 doors as they have the pushbutton handles.
There are three vendors in the Kansas City area that sell truck parts: Classic Parts of America (formerly Chevy Duty) LMC Truck Jim Carter Truck Parts All have websites you can order from. I personnally prefer Classic Parts of America.

J.C.Whitney still has window fuzzies. You'll have to measure the dimensions of your window channel, they don't work by application. Cosmo
A good full service automotive glass shop that has been around for a long time can get you the correct window channel for the one piece windows with the metal frame around them. I think LMC shows it too. Here, number 7 is the kit with the felt and the window fuzzies and outside seal # 38-5988. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/ca/full.aspx?Page=15 As far as the metal piece at the front of the doors that that channeling goes in, if you find a vendor for those let me know as I have never found them reproduced yet in years of hunting and they are always the first thing missing from swap meet or wrecking yard doors. Here is one of the few that I have on the batch of doors I have. I haven't seen it done but you may be able to swap push buttons in a 52/55 first series left door handle or flip a right side door handle to put a locking push button on the left side. See page 290 in the Chevs of the 40's catalog per my other post. LMC, Brothers, Tuckers or any other vendor should have the push button door handles if you don't dig them up used but you WILL need the locks and strikers too. If I was going to that much trouble I'd toss the stock latches and strikers and put in bear claw style latches. That's a safety item and not a "street roddy" item as far as I am concerned. I won't run stock latches in my trucks because I have had too many pop open in the past with stock latches.
is this the metal piece your referring to? https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/detail/32895/Chevrolet_Left_Door_Lower_Glass_Run_Post_Front_Wide.html
Yes it is and I have been on that site hundreds of times and missed it. Thanks. They always seem to get robbed out of doors in wrecking yards when guys are switching from wings to one piece windows on 51 and up trucks. Cprteacher you might check Chevs of the 40's for the window channel too. https://www.chevsofthe40s.com/Catalogs/chevstruck/index.html#/231/zoomed That page shows all of the pieces for both with or without the metal framed windows. You might check page 290 in their catalog for the push button door handles with locks too. I've never paid attention to push button door handles on AD trucks but you might be able to put a right handle on the left side if you can't swap insides to get a lock.
Forget Chevs of the 40s, here's a couple of places, the Truck Shop in Orange,CA and Golden State Parts in Carson City, Nevada. Here are the links Golden State Parts http://www.gspp.com/ The Truck Shop http://www.truckandcarshop.com/4759.html
