    hey hambers, just bought a 50 chevy sedan I am going to rod it but it runs too well now to pull the six so I am going to leave as is awhile. My question is i want to add after market wheels and tire. what is the largest wheel and tire i can run on the rear with no modifications to the wheel wells, whats a comon hod rod choice I may even go gasser style later

    Get a jack, lug wrenh and a tape measure. Jack up the rear, take off the wheel, measure the inside of the wheel housing width. Deduct and inch and a half for tire clearance and that is the max width of the tire/wheel combo. A little more measuing and you can figure out the wheel backspacing that is required to make it work.

    If I remember right, I think 225 radials were the biggest I could get up in mine without any modification.

    I thought it was a law that all 49-52 Chevys had to have the same size bias ply wide white wall tire as every one else.
