    Hello everyone:
I am in the middle of putting a 318 in my chrysler, the engine and transmission are sitting in the hole and I am looking at exhaust manifolds. The driver side appears to not be a problem and I think a center dump truck manifold will work but the p***enger side looks to be a problem unless I can find a rear dump manifold. can someone who has done this swap before please tell me if they had to recess the firewall to make room and what manifolds they had yo use. Pictures of the swap would be nice.
    Thanks
    Jim

I sent you a PM with a write up and pictures of a 318 going into a '51 Plymouth. :D

A search should show up a few other projects, I know this has been covered here before. You might also want to try over at moparts, I think they have a hot rod section where this has been addressed.

This is a fairly common swap with the smaller Plymouths and Dodges so you should have a bit easier time.
There may have been a rear exit manifold for the p*** side but nothing comes to mind. Seems that most all had a center exit to avoid the oil filter. Hopefully one of the A-body guys will jump in.
It would be good to have some pics of the engine/exhaust/steering area, would love to see how much room you have there. Oh hell, post pics of everything, it sounds like a nice project.

The only rear exits that I can think of were on the later Magnum trucks. That would be pre Hemi. I don't remember any on "A" body stuff though. That said, on my car I have a pair of center dump truck manifolds that I angle milled a bit to tuck them closer to the block, and reworked for better performance.
