    Good job!.....You can do this!!
..reminds me of the old coupster that my son and I threw together in 30 days back in 1986 to go to Yakima Nats......didn't get'er done:(....we were so burned out we pushed it back in the shed and didn't touch it for a year.....next July, the week before Graffiti Weekend, my son, a buddy, and I thrashed again and we drove that sucker to Roseburg :)...a month and a week.
    .....GOOD LUCK to you...

I have made some progress, but my eye still feels like there is sand in it.

Got the rear shocks mounted last night.

I have no idea what these shocks came on originally, but they work well and they were
in the yard, so I made them fit.

I used the links from the Armstrong shocks off a Triumph, once again, cuz they were in the yard.

Not completed in the pic, but you get the idea.

Over the weekend I got a side shot.

The body is not mounted yet, but I wanted to get a feel for the steering position and seat, etc.

I asked this bum from the neighborhood to sit in the car while I took a pic.

I think I will paint the wheel wells black, and redo the tail on the scallop to bring it up
to better relate to the frame.

I'm going to make the wood shim to fit the body today.

someone asked it the frames were pinched, neither this roadster or the 30 I sold were pinched.

    back to work.

Well I got some more done today with the holiday.

Here is a better pic of the rear shocks with every thing hooked up.

Had to redo the front end, moved the bearing on the spindles, and had to bend the steering arms so the tie rod could clear. With chrome spindles I didn't want to torch them,
but even with a cheater bar I could lift up the whole car with the motor, with out bending the steering arms cold. Strong shit this old ford stuff, I love it.

I copied a 32 pedal box from scratch and used some other pedals to make a juice set up.
What a huge amount of work, and I didn't even do pretty job, just functional. But I am glad I did it.
Thanks Jim for lending me the box to copy.

that is the original pedal box on the left
    [IMG]

here you can see where I welded on the brake arm, it is welded all the way around the pedal. It is a cut down arm from the clutch shaft.

my ratios are probably way off, but that is how long I needed to get to the master cylinder set up I am using.

We'll see how it feels real soon.

my budy Johnny came by and helped me again, thanks for all your help.

and my girl, Marissa built the seat, first time upholstery. and well done. Here she is testing the fit

more pics and a story on that later.

I also finished trimming the wood shims needed to fit the 29 body on the 32 rails.
now the doors open and close reasonably well. :)

and I snapped a picture as we climbed down the ladder off the roof from watching the local fireworks.

honestly I have not watched them in at least 10 years, but it was cool to see them.
and good to take a break.

thanks Nate, I appreciate it, we miss you on the run down here.

Also, thank you everyone for you encouragement, I really appreciate it. It helps keep the spirits up.

We once built a car in 21 days from start to finish, but that was with four guys.

I thought even with a full time job, I could pull it in 50, but it is not easy. Things don't always go as planned and everything takes longer than you think or want it to.

And I am trying to not do a half ass job even though I don't have time to do as nice of a job as I would like to do.

I keep telling myself, once I have a shop, I can take all the time I want.

    Cheers

    Redbeard,
This is a great build! You're doing a great job! Mike Sauer is a great guy, he defintely gets Hot Rods!
I can't beileve that this run is already upon us again. Mike Gamel & I were talking about the run when we got us cars together in Santa Maria.
Where are you headed to this year????

We are going out to the mendocino-sonoma county coast, and back through the mountains.

BBQ lunch, and a Kent Fuller exhibit.

And end up on the Russian River.

Honestly this will be a great drive, I sure hope I can make it in my own car.

Otherwise I will have to ride with Sauers in the white 32.

    Cheers

Well more has gotten done, but I am to busy to take too many pictures.

The brakes are all plumbed, and almost bled, need another person here to do it right.

the carbs and linkage are back on the motor,

the fuel lines are half way done.

Radiator is mounted, just need to finish the upper hoses.

The pedals are all hooked up, including spoon throttle.

    seats are in.

I hope to fire it up today and go for a spin, we'll see.

Need to mount the dash, column drop.

    Mount gas tank and battery.

and run some kind of exhaust.

Great pictures. For a while I thought we were back in the '40s or '50s. Hope you make it but if you don't it wouldn't be too bad being Mike's copilot. Just saw Mike yesterday at the Knockout. Great guy. Good luck on the project.

Well I lucked out and two of my hot rodder friends came by to help on Sunday.

we got the brake bled, rear pan cut, column and drop mounted, dash mounted and gauges
in, and probably alot I am forgetting.

These were what they drove up to help. Thanks alot Mike and Johnny. And Brendan.

both 32's have early cad motors.

I have yet to drive it, as every thing is taking longer than expected. And some stuff
has to be done for others to get done.

I wanted to mount the gas tank so I could run the fuel lines. and I didn't want to just
    run hose the whole car.

Well that meant I had to mount the floor in the back, to mount the tank to.

Here is how I bent up the strap.

you have to make do with what you have.

here is the tank all mounted up.

I was concerned about just one strap, and considered splitting this one into two, but once I mounted it, it feels very solid.

and honestly, that is not the final tank, that is just to get me on the road for the run.

I finished up all the fuel lines about 1:30 last night, I had two bad fittings leaking like crazy, and the flexible hose at the fuel pump literally had gas coming out of every surface.

That is why I only put a couple of gallons of gas in, and I put in a shutoff valve.
of course the shutoff was leaking too.

but I got it all fixed and not leaking.

tonight will be electrical, and maybe shocks and headlights.

Then only exhaust. but I can drive with just headers if I have to.

I have to say it has occurred to me that I may just be documenting my failure if this thing has any issues.

    Keeping the fingers crossed.

    back to work.

Well today it moved under it's own power.

Johnny came by and helped and we got it running and driving.

It was almost 10pm and there are no headlights yet so no test drive on the street yet.

I also need to cut down the fan to clear the radiator hoses.
And run some exhaust beyond the headers.

I am really happy with the way the dash turned out.

It is a 33 ford pick up, which mated up perfect to the column drop, as it was also 32-34 pick up.

I had found the temp gauge at the Santa Rosa swap for $8.00 could not believe it, and it works.

Then I found the nos Sun tach in the box for $2.00, and it came with that little light in front of the gauge.

So I had to bite the bullet and find the oil pressure, found one nos in the box, sealed in foil.
Military stuff. Had to pay $75 for that one.

But I really dig the curved glass with the crescent moon needles.

I ended up using the deluxe wheel and horn button rather than the 40 wheel I had in there
    before.

I am very happy that it is running.

But there is still alot more to do, and I would prefer to shake it down a little before the run.

Thanks again for all your encouragement.

    Keep the fingers crossed.
