I Have Been Told That A Maverick 8" Rear Is A Direct Bolt In For The 50 Ford Coupe,i Am Wondering If A Ranger Rear Would Do The Same And Give Me The Same Clearence I Am Open To Other Suggestions Also Thanks. John
The 8" is the right width. 57-59 9" fit. There are some 8.8" that are close enough to work with some slight tweaks. Do a search... there are a billion posts here on this topic.
Do some careful measuring on the spring perches. When I installed a Maverick 8" into my dad's '50 coupe, I noticed there was about 3/16" difference between the spring perches & springs themselves. Certainly within the realm of play on rubber-bushed springs, but if you're using anything other than rubber, something to look at. Definitely something to keep an eye on (spring bushings) for premature wear... BUT - it is as near a bolt-in as you will find.

I'm using an 8" out of a '66 Fairlane, it has the same spring perch width at 42", but is ~ 1" wider overall. Todd PS here's one for 9" rear ends as well. http://www.dfwmotorsports.com/fairlane/9inchrearends.htm
early 70s V8 (5 lug) mavericks. 71-77 I think. Watch it though, a few of those years are tough to find brake parts for, the early ones used the same parts as early mustangs. which also are about the right size. V8 passenger cars had small bearing 9 inch rears in 57-59. Wagons and Rancheros had large bearing rears. Both were 57 inches wide, narrowest 9 inch ford ever produced. good reference: http://www.50chevy.freeservers.com/Suspension_Widths.html#REAR
