HI..Just wanted to know if the transmission case with overdrive is the same as a tranny without? Also are the linkages the same...Thanks Gerry
The case is basically the same w/an extra hole for the reverse lockout (I think), the tailshaft is obviously different, but not sure about lenght - but linkages should be the same. If you're trying to find out if a '50 OD trans will bolt in place of a standard trans, the answer is yes - just be sure it's for a '50 Ford & not a Merc or convertible (unless you have a convertible) as these had different placement of the governor & solenoid which make them application specific... All of the above is caveated with the fact it's been 10+ years since I fiddled with putting a OD trans into a non-OD car, so it's all based on foggy memory. Try over on Fordbarn, those guys will probably get you the right answer quickly!
Thanks for everyones help.I needed to know because I bought a hurst mystery shifter on egay and I needed to know if it fit or I could make it fit. Thanks again Gerry
