I used the nylon clips from Fasten-All outlet here in town, they are inexpensive, no scratching paint, fit tight, no rust. I love'em. I am sure someone in your area stocks these. Good luck, shoebox looks great. ~sololobo~
1st question, did they weld the holes or fill with plastic filler? Look inside the trunk on the inside of the rear fenders and see. 1) They filled with plastic filler. In this case cover the holes on the outside with masking tape. This will prevent the paint from lifting. Drill the holes out from the inside very slowly and carefully with a sharp drill. Stop as soon as the drill breaks through. From the outside, clean the hole with a sharp knife before removing tape. Don't pull the tape straight up, double it back over itself and pull sideways. This will prevent lifting the paint. For holes you can't reach from the trunk. Mark a straight line and measure the distance between holes. This will allow you to locate the holes from the outside pretty close. Probe with an ice pick or bradawl and push through the hole. 2) They welded the holes. In this case you have to drill new holes. Again, cover the work area on the outside of the car with masking tape. Draw a straight line where you want the trim holes. This line should run over the old holes. Drill the new holes 1/2" to 1" away from the old holes. Do not try to drill the old holes. Once again, use a sharp drill, go slow and careful. The masking tape will protect the paint around the hole.
You told them not to fill them. They filled them anyway. Paint and body work offered at a charity auction with alcohol involved or not, I would have them fix it. The shop owner or manager may not be happy about it, but you are the customer and it is THEIR responsibility to make you satisfied. The employees wont care. They get paid hourly and most likely so does the manager. Car looks good with or without mouldings by the way. Nice color choice.
I like it the way it is. Nice and clean looking. Body looks really straight to. Hard to do on these cars.
If you are talking about the clips that have a small plate that slides inside the molding and threaded stud, I believe I got mine through MACs
