I have a motor on front p***enger side of engine casting number is c8me-a but I pulled intake and and on side of valley says 352 I'm confused at what the engine actually is need help Sent from my SM-N900V using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
@James a banks sr It's an FE. All FE blocks are cast with a 352 (that basically just means it's an FE, doesn't indicate displacement) and the C8ME indicates it was cast in 1968 (C = 1960's, 8 = 1968). You can't tell exactly what a Ford engine is just from casting numbers like you can a Chevy. Got any pictures of it in the '50? Curious to see how it would fit, unless the firewall is hacked to pieces.
By '68, the only FE motors Ford was building were the 360 for the trucks, the 390 and 428 (unless you lucked out and got a ultra-rare hydraulic-lifter 427 out of a Cougar). The 427 can be identified by it's cross-bolted main caps, the others you'll have to check bore size. The 360 and 390 have the same bore (4.05"), so there you'll have to check stroke too. The 428 bore is 4.13".
