Hot Rods 50 Merc M47 Carb questions

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Dennis and Tammy, Nov 14, 2024.

  1. Hello all, I have a 1950 Mercury M47 truck. In an attempt to get it running correctly we changed the carb but the place I got it sold me a chinese piece of salami that does not even attempt to work. Can anyone tell me what the original carb for these was? It is the 239 8 cyl flathead. I head Stromberg 94, 97 and someone mentioning another one as well when I was speaking to them. I want to get it running and running well. Any thoughts? Thanks

It was not a Stromberg (and FYI, there is no such thing as a Stromberg 94).

likely in stock form it would have a Holley 94. If you are running the stock distributor, you will need one of those as they need to work together. They are pretty common and simple to rebuild.
Where are you located? Someone near you may have an extra
