I have a 50 Mercury I am rebuilding into a daily driver. I am keeping the Flathead and 3 speed transmission with OD.

The transmission seals fore and aft need to be replaces and there is leaking around the shift levers on the side. The prior owner said the OD doesn't work.

Who does quality work on these vintage transmissions? Who do I contact?

    Thanks.

Mac VanPelt is an AWESOME parts supplier, I didn't know he also offered services. If he does I'd bet he's excellent!

Shipping would be a huge expense, and finding a local reputable trans shop is pretty easy. Most trans guys cut their teeth on early Ford transmissions and its a simple day's work for them.

There is a Guy in Cuyahoga falls Ohio. Jim and Sons transmissions. I take everything to him, and it never brakes. Jim has got to be the nicest guy to deal with. If there was ever someone I would deal with it would be him, but its a distance.
