Technical '50 Merc vs Ford control arm shaft seals

My '50 Merc control arm rubber seals are dried and cracked. My car came with a seal kit for the upper and lower control arm shafts that I think are actually for a '50 Ford due to the size of the seals relative to the shaft. The seals I have are much smaller than the shaft and don't appear to fit even if I "forced" them. If these are for a Ford and they don't fit, what are my options for seals? What have other Merc owners done?
