I sold my 51 for 4k about 12 years ago with what amounted to a shell with glass, a stretched 75 Monte Carlo frame, Desoto grill, cad bullet tail lights and not a lot more for 4k about 11 years ago. It wasn't for sale but the guy caught me at one of those times I said would never happen.
4k sounds like the bargain of the week if it has what you describe and is a pretty solid car.

And I agree with what Bad Bob said. He pretty well said what most of us wanted to say in the first place.

  2. accordin' to the other thread close to the top, 'bout $700. 'course I didn't look at what that other car looks like, but a Merc shell is a Merc shell. We sold a lousy one as a 2-door conversion kit for about that same money.

The chick with the wedding dress made out of somebody's picture window curtains is funny.

By far the most common way to price a car is the length of burnout it can do...

Doesn't look too bad. $4000 doesn't sound bad for that.

does it have fenders and a hood? rear end? inner fenders, or any of the other peices for the front?looks pretty thin for $4000 to me. not that really i know what mercs go for, maybe there harder to find than i think, but id tell him $2500. and id still be have an uneasy feeling.

You have to ask yourself a lot of questions ,, What exactly are you looking for . Do you want the four link rear , updated frame , updated dash or gauges ? I wouldn't . You say it comes with a FatMan front end ,,, FatMan spindle kit ? Either way its not worth much in the big picture . Even if you do want these exact updated components . Do you want a project at this stage thats been modified by someone else possible with changes you would have done even slightly different . Is there quality in the work done . Even if all the work is top shelf . In the case of this car ,, It needs a enormous amount of work and parts . Can you do the metal work . You are looking at a huge amount of work and or money depending on your situation . I also think your looking at very long project . The main thing you have here is a 2 door body . A cut up and welded back together body thats still cut up and missing parts . Of coarse this is just my opinion . Hope it helps you . One more thing . You said the top was welded back on "stock" height and it was done right . Don't count on it . Count on it being fucked up just like the last one that was welded on until you can get some stock doors hung to check the gaps . Again , not a huge problem in itself but something else to consider .

Duder. Is this South Jersey? If so I think I might have heard about this thing awhile back. I think a father and son bought it, were going to get it together, spray it flat black and flip it. Might be wrong, but it seems familiar.

Are you in Toms River? Im up in Union, near Elizabeth or Newark and know these things pretty well. It doesnt look terrible, but doors are a huge part too. Are they solid on the bottom? If not its a pain in the ass. Keep us posted on what you do.
