I am going to rewire my 50 merc. It still has the orignal plus add on etc. I
know this has been probably asked a million times but what wiring to use. Are all kits pretty much the same.

I suggest American Autowire Hwy 22. I am a bit biased as I am a dealer but not all kts are the same

First off American Autowire is made in America
    High quality
Panel mounts cleanly with no wires coming out of the back
No crimping at panel for an easy installation
All wires are constructed from heat resistant (-60F- +275F)
GXL heavy-wall wire with laser printed circuit identification every 2 inches
GM color coded wires for ease of installation
The kit is all inclusive where many are not. Includes headlight, dimmer and ignition switch and all wiring and connectors to complete the installation
Extremely well written and simple instructions

Here is a link to the Highway 22 Kit

If thats more than you need here is the Highway 15 Kit

And one more option is a pre terminated kit Power Plus 13

Do you want original or are you updating the car ? If updating, go with one of the aforementioned kits; If it's original you're after, MAC Motors , and possibly others, sells the entire "factory" harness...from bumper to bumper.

Thanks jcapps, American auto was my first choice as I have heard nothing but good things. My merc does have the orignal wiring however air has been added along with elec fan and others. That's why I need to rewire. I am not felling to safe with what's in it. I also plan on adding elec seats, elec wipers and want to have extra in case I add power windows etc. Do I contact you through this site for pricing on probably the highway 21. I am alittle intimited by all the wire but am told to just go slow and wire one section at a time .

AAW kits are incredibly easy to do. If you do the Highway 22, each section comes in separate bags. Very easy instructions and not intimidating at all. Open one bag at a time and wire that section, truly simple. And the fact that everything you need is in the box makes it that much easier.

I have relatives in upstate NY, Middletown and near Margaretville. You can pm any questions or contact through my site.

AAW tech support is second to none. Its all about one section at a time amd take your time
