Hot Rods 50 Mercury finally in primer!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Leadsled612, Dec 30, 2012.

  1. Was able to heat my garage to a constant 70 degrees F. Laid down 2 wet coats of 2k primer.
    What's best to do?
Sand to 180/220 and final primer coat and sand/block again?

I wouldn't use anything heavier than 400 grit prior to top coats. the sanding scratches will show through so the finer the paper the smoother the final finish. Prep work is always the hardest part of a paint job. Spraying is the easy part but it helps to have some experiece laying down the top coats to get a superior outcome. Everyone has to start somewhere.
