All original. This motor has no power in 3rd gear. 1st and 2nd are fine.

    What's been done to date
Carb, fuel pump, points, timing, compression, gas cap, air filter, muffler all at or brought up to snuff.
This is crazy! The truck is in very nice condition aside from this one issue and it's baffled anyone I've talked with. It seems like it's just gassing out on the slightest hill or any acceleration in 3rd.

Fuel supply? By the time you hit third, the bowl's dry and the pump can't keep up?

I'd suggest checking fuel volume, not just pressure.

On one of the road trip threads, the was a square bird that had a terrible problem with quitting/losing power on hills. He added an electric fuel pump just for hills. He discovered that his pump diaphragm was bad and fuel was leaking into the crank case so he bought a new fuel pump. The problem with hills continued. He eventually decided to blow out the fuel lines (which were originals) and they were clogged. I believe it cured his problem on the rest of the trip.

  6. replaced an old gas stove with a brite shiny new one once( tried to make the old lady happy)but dangedest thing- every time she started the oven the furnace would kick in and run as long as the oven was on.. went through a BUNCH of techs triing to figger that one out.. finally a guy comes to fix something else, not sure what anymore and I'm telling him my little tale of woe and he says its simple- no ground on the gas line...seems the gas flow was building a static charge on the line running back to my furnace controller.. one strap later no more problems....some times its just the littlest thing

Fuel lines can clog with varnish. The flex line from the firewall to the pump can have a pin hole that will cause the pump to draw air in and less fuel. Bad condenser in the ignition can also cause problems.

Fuel supply or no advance would be my thoughts.
