hey flop my man, just curious how you are planning to finish the piece under the hood that you added, the 1" or so tall piece that is smoothed into the '53 lip. going to do something similar this winter with the lincoln, just curious. figure you'll post those sometime so maybe i'm just impatient lookin awesome man. gotta get back out to 'da burgh to see it in person again! -ace

Just read the thread from start to here. Hoe-lee fuck. You make it look so easy and the finished product is solid gold. Great work! Can't wait to see this monster when she's finished.
Man oh man , I had to catch back up with this one. This has got to be the best thread ever. Every detail is shared and Flop is totally cool for answering ever question on all the detail. Keep the updates coming Flop.
thanks more updates when im done with work tonight. whole surround is pretty much done. figured out the grill im gonna run figured out how im gonna fill the hood strip much progress has been made on the front.... pictures tonight
heres the next installment the fuel behind this build red bull and some strange attraction i have to sheetmetal and making it do what i want... onto the car how we started things off went to my english wheel aka a snap on dolly in a vice and a hammer . started beatin on that piece of sheet metal until i got the bottom edge below the green line to curve out a bit so it flowed better into the 53 surround. also used alot of weld to get it to curve into the piece as you can see. finished for the most part still needs the gap done
side shot shows the inner working gonna make it look stock eventually how im filling the hood. no its not a piece of aluminum siding from a house in the 70s .... the body line out of a fender of a 53 caddy (thanks gator) it needs some crown taken out of one side but you get the idea it wont sit as raised either its not flush in the gap yet. and the new grill had my desoto grill in and it loooked horrible i mean i wanted to cut the front end of the car off horrible i dont know why it just did... well to the drawing board it was. wait what that in the weeds over there a grill bar from a 59 or 60 caddy..... thanks kensey... then added 2 redbull cars to the edges will be replaced with tube of sorts for the parking lights/ turn signals. yah its not straight but you get the idea!!
I don't know if it is right to not personally know a guy and be proud of them... but f*ck it... I'm proud be on the same board with all this talent... good job man. I was bitchin today about having to take my tranny out of my roadster... this post kicked my ass to get it done... Nice work and I appreciate your attention to details... GREAT JOB Flop!!!!
hows the vette coming mpc? and diegrinder details make a car in my book .there are so many cars out there lacking the little things which make them lack totally in my book .thanks for the words man and glad ya got the tranny out. finished up some of the the gap on the hood today. today and some small welding touch up hers and there not picture worthy . should have the surround completley finished soon.
Still wet sanding. About another day :fingerscrossed: and then I can start taking the doors, hood, etc off and get the inside lips prepped, and hope to start cutting in the jambs, etc this coming weekend.
surround is finished and gapped to the hood heres how we look now not to exciting but goy was it a pain in the ass and time consuming to get that gap nice used a mixtures of a 3 inch roloc a whizzer wheel and alot of filing..also used an eighth inch fender shim to get a uniform gap. hard to get a good eye on the gap but its there rest of the hood needs a ton of work to fit right. its shimmed so its equal with the cowl but the edges are still raised compared to the fenders if that makes sense.
one thing i would have to say is you did your home work.you looked at the car and say that it didnt need to have a huge top chop.thanks for doing it right.most people chop just to chop and not look really long and hard to see how much so be taken off.also the fact that you kept the belt molding around the rear of the car is great.like before people dont look at those kind of thing.its a breath of fresh air that can see what the customizers be for you have done and followed in the great foot steps.your car is looking so amazing.everything flows really nice.thanks for sharing your progress.
Nice job my man. lookin' good. You all having a labor day shindig this year? Love to come out again and check it out. hopefully have the '36 on the road by then. just waiting on rear brakes! starting to plumb the lines tomorrow for the fronts and start the rears in the meantime. anyhow, lookin' sharp brother. -ace

just read this from start to finish. great post. excellent metalworking skills. thanks. looking forward to continued updates.
well givin myself a few days off... the pontiac fought back and gave me some metal in the eye. with the help of a doctor with a needle and a burr and the craziest feeling in the world when theres a needle pokin around your eye ball ,its now on the road back to normal. and yeah i had my eye protection on .. hey but the nurse was hot and she dug my tattoos haha!!
