Hi there, been on here looking around for the past couple of years. Been tinkering with my 50 pontiac and am looking for ideas and suggestions on changing its appearance. I already have made some 56? (or 55 I cant remember) caddy bar ends with a 50 buick grille centre. Depending on the day I like it or accept it. In two minds whether to start again or continue. I am starting to build a new chassis which will have the body channelled over, I am not going to chop this car (at least yet). Kinda just curious whether you guys think i'm on track or not! Does anyone think 54/5 caddy headlight doors will look good. I am also lookin to put the 50 buick dash in just for something different? Go ahead give me your thoughts, ideas and critisizim. Cheers. looks good the way it is, but you asked. my 2 cents: you might consider sectioning it and leaving the rear quarters full sized to accentuate their shape. then if you decide to chop it later it just becomes that much more radical. saw a chevy done that way and it was pretty cool. good luck with what ever you decide.
By the way dash is a nessacary undertaking as i want to convert to right hand drive and the cluster has already ended up in my 28 pontiac roadster. I know its a bit common but at least it is in a pontiac.
Perhaps narrowing your grille surround to more closely fit the grille teeth would be a good idea. I believe the Buick grille shell was narrower than yours. Maybe this picture of Saint Vasquez '51 Chevy will help you picture the Caddy lights on your Poncho. (Though I've always thought he should have used a thicker "eyebrow".)
Yeah I think those caddy lights will be the go! definitely with the thicker eyebrow you suggested. It should work well with the stock headlight position as the headlights are a few inch off the top edge of the guards.
Here is the tailight I have been playing with, 59 ford bezel with a 58 imperial lens. little more exciting than the traditional 50 pontiac tailight! Kinda peaked the top of the fender and brought it out over the taillight. Frenched in by about 1" too. Made these little buckets to build into the quarter and seems to be working ok.

The 50 buick i have had ONE!!! rusty tooth dont ask me why but it was either that or rust. Had gold from replating (haha) a few 94's for the vauxhall lying around so it just happened. Thanks for the link to flop's build, thats killer!
I really like the '55 Cad headlight idea and I REALLY like the taillight. I would never have thought of that but it looks great! maybe some frenched antennas and rounded door corners would be a good idea for subtle touches.
