   I know this question has been asked a dozen times, and I even looked it up in my shop manual. But my serial starts with a K. It is not listed as a manufacturing plant in the book. Is the K a Canadian designation?

   A '50 Pontiac with a serial number starting with K was built far from Canada.
   
   That letter is the designator for the Kansas City, Kansas, GM manufacturing plant.
