  2. The real problem is that many of these are not 5th grade drop outs. Most of these folks are high school graduates...............

And the reality is, if you present yourself as a *****, you will be treated accordingly by society.

Spelling is not my strong suit, never has been. "Spell check" has helped me to get through whatever current post is "now", and it has helped me improve my "natural" ability as it applies to spelling.

This may come as a surprise to some people, but different people think "differently".

Spelling and grammar come naturally to some and not so much to another, and a weakness in this area is not necessarily indicative of an intelligence deficiency, it is an indication that people are different.

Does that mean we shouldn't endeavor to improve? I don't think so... but posting to a forum is not something we should run by a professional editor though.

It does not really bother me when a person is making a reasonable effort to make a reasonably literate post, and then does not do so well, but it does bug me when people make a long drawn out post with DELIBERATELY OBVIOUS errors to support their carefully crafted "online image" as a "non-conformist"... That IS stupid....

(spell check fixed 7 errors on this post)

That said, no matter the brilliance of any online post, even if the logic is flawless, people will mock you (in their mind at least) if your spelling is poor,,,,

Just the way it is, us poor spellers have to recognize this and then make the best of it....
