Julie, who ***isted me in adopting my Shela @ the Humane Society on Sherman St, YEARS ago came up to me here and said "I think I know you" :)

Shela was in the back of the cage she was in @ the Sherman St Humane Society location -- when I saw her I said "Shela, would you like to come home with me?" [ they called her "Little Girl" but I had already decided her name was to BE Shela ] "She jumped up and came forward to the cage door and put her muzzle thru the wire and said "Get me OUTTA HERE! PLEASE! [ of course, not in so many words -- but that's how I interperted her yips, whines, and beseechments ] I signed FOR her right away, and it was LUCKY I did [ she'd just been brought IN and had to go thru all the "procedures" beFORE "She" could be adopted ] -- 2 weeks later, they called to say "Little Dog" was ready -- I jumped into Beulah and headed down to GET her -- there were SIX other folks there who'd signed for her as well -- AFter I had -- ALL hoping!! WHEW! They have a procedure where they have you and yer chosen dog come into a "meeting" yard togeather to see if all goes well. Shela was brought into the yard and the attraction was INSTANT Better STILL, when I opened Beulah's p***enger side door for her "She" jumped right IN -- crossed over to the DRIVER'S side -- sat down, and placed her front paws ON the steering wheel, turned and looked at me w a smile on her face that said "oK, I'm ready, git IN and let's GO! --- She wern't exzactly happy when I hadta tell her she wasn't going to get to DRIVE Beulah -- but, she crossed back over to the p***enger seat, where my previous dog's safety harness was folded, sat down, and lifted her front paws one by one to be belted in just as if she'd done it a hundred times before -- "She" DOES this EVERY time she gits IN since that day! but now I haveta LIFT her IN -- [ She can't make the jump herself anymore @ 16 YO ;( but, that's OK -- "She ain't heavy -- she's my ANGEL! AND COpilot

Took Beulah to the Wednesday, weekly, car show here -- washed her up -- 1st wash since September of last year when I took her to BE rewired -- it was suPOSED to have taken 2 weeks and cost $1000 brought her home in December after $2000 spent -- she's NOT oK :( WAY too many things WRONG w her electrically and too many things NOT workin at all

Been sittin, she has, tween the house and the barn, again, where she sat for 4 years after bein KIA 20 August 2011 VERY dissapointed in the REwiring job done by anuther -- :( :( :(

BUT, she's right PRETTY and RUNS great and [ wonder of wonders ] doesn't leave a spot of oil -- ANYwhere! -- THANKS Rick Moore! For ALL *you* went thru to MAKE her so --- that "issue" you found w the rear main oil seal [ wrong part, that *caused* it to leak from day 1 after the engine replacement in 2010 ] would have confounded me had *I* tried to stop the leak --

SO, off to the car show we went -- pulled inta an open spot -- it was late in the day. lotsa open spots -- got out and :O EVERY single person walkin by came up to tell me a story of how I'd helped them in the past -- or they'd seen me on TV, or they knew where I live because of the "retired" [ son's first car -- LOOKS like Beulah ] Ford parked beside the" Highwayman's Roost"

hadta git home before dark tho cause headlights are one of the problems o_O

    WOW!

Lifted this old man's spirits considerable:cool:

makin shure, before I close the door, that it's NOT going to cause the car to LOCK UP! [ had some BAD experiences w *that* in the past -- then, makin shure of the jack placement so as not to damage the body --

TIGHT studs! hadta "persuade" em to loosen w my "persuader" ;) I have never understood the engineering - design of having NO "lineup" of the wheel to hub?? STUDnuts inSTEAD of lugnuts that forces one to have to be SO precise in lining up the wheel w the holes!! DIFFICULT to git right! :p give me HUB studs ANYday! and SOME of these German cars have DIFFERENT
[ shorter ] studnuts for the donut spares, that, if you aren't aware, and use the same
[ longer ] studnuts for the spare, the wheel won't turn when you're done! [ DID that ONCE -- LONG ago -- never since ] :p Luckily, these gals had a FULL size spare -- NO "issues" ;)

LOVE the Y-block exhaust tones on "launchin" off the shoulder :) beautifull!

I said it before and I'll say it again - you are an inspiration, and the world would be a better place if all people would put other's issues ahead of their own once in a while.

I couldn't say it any better...Sorry Beula is not up to par but hopefully you will get her sorted out..Glad that Shela is still guiding [!] you on your missions...My guide is not light enough for me to pick up [82 lbs] but stairs, ramps or a cardboard box [works for the Crosley] and my helpful hands on his **** he gets loaded; can't let him jump down on his own anymore as his rear legs give out when he lands..Point is we will keep going on as we have to work around the little [?] problems that come up.. All my best for the future...

DO a kindness! MAKE a difference! You might never SEE it, but the "ripples" of YOUR actions can travel FAR and affect MANY! BE an example of what you WANT to SEE in others!

Went out to "play" t-day for jist the second time in a week -- [ been sick ] & now my witch has got it

    anyways

got one fella goin that was OOG SB SR163 by Mercy Hospital -- fella was REALLY freaked by the p***in traffic -- I saw him when i was SB mself but couldn't git over to where he was so hadta take the Washington EB exit -- double back to NB163 -- get off @ Friars Rd and double back agin SB 163 --

LIT up as I came to the EB I-8 to SB163 merge area so I could scoot over to where he was sittin -- no problem --

fella saw me comin cause he was watchin the traffic comin by him -- did I mention he was freaked out by the speed of p***in traffic?

anyways -- got him goin w LOTSA thanks - and pulled outta there m-self to head up to the hillcrest 76 to refill my gas can used -- filled it up and was firin up the rig to leave when the fella I'd just helped came over from the other pump island to say thanks AGIN -- seems he was talkin to his friends on his phone and he said "you're not going to BELIEVE what just happened to me!"

    >chuckle<

anyways to the "trickster" incident --

I'm headed SB on the I-5 and see JNO the Pershing DR off ramp, a small pickup w what looks like a LF FT --

well, I "goaround" @ Imperial and come back NB to pull up behind

NO one around, LF low on air but not flat -- however - RF BLOWN & SHREDDED [ truck was partially ON the raised RS over the curb ]

good spare [ had air ] layin in the open bed, so I proceed to change out the RF -------- -------- NG - the spare wheel is different then the wheel on the RF and won't fit the disk brake hub [IMG]

    Soooooo

I put the flat tire wheel back on the RF whilst I raise the RR to install the spare wheel there [ Fits the drum brake hub ] -- then I take that wheel and change out the RF w *it*

air up the low LF tire
throw the blown & shredded in the bed, stick onea my "p*** it on cards" in the window frame and launch outta there

NOW -- about my "launch" [IMG] I'm LIT -- I've waited for an open "window" in the traffic -- I've GOT one and am "launching" -- STILL LIT mind you --

a S.I.D "Selfish Ignorant Driver [IMG] changes lanes directly into the lane behind me at high speed and *I* haveta take evasive action to not get worn as a hood onernament [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

WELL , I got to TELL em about it as they finally swerved back into the other lane to come past me -- [IMG]

SOME day I'd liketa see the "MOVE OVER" [ away FROM -- [IMG] not TO [IMG] ] law *enforced* [IMG]

  23. I think you should be subjected to the same rules and regulations that any commercial towing & recovery company has to follow. Some folks spend big bucks to perform that type of service. your unfairly competing with them making a living.

No Good Deed goes unpunished. He must be made to kneel, grovel, and take his punishment. Oh, and get a permit. Jayzus.

  26. I think so. However he is still performing a service. And those folks who do the same commercially have to meet bonding and insurance requirements. Decades ago my father in law had a gas station at I40 and hwy 64 at Conway Ar. He had wreckers and a road service vehicle. He even had to bid on a franchise to perform that type of service in the city limits. What the Highway man is doing by his own admission is playing. If he can meet and afford all the requirements that any commercial service has to that must charge for the same type of service. If he can do that for free more power to him. I know in Arkansas what he doing if you don't meet the insurance & bonding requirements is illegal.
