I have an issue...who doesn't? My 1950 chevy sedan delivery frame is being modernized with chassis development rear end and transmission mount kits. I was planning on using a chevy s10 5 speed transmission bolted to a 1954 inline 6. The transmission I bought is from a ford ranger...not a s10, I was told it was. I'm two weeks away from starting on the frame mods and need an s10 transmission. Or is it possible to get an adapter for this setup?? Opinions? Advice?

  4. Rockysdeliveryindriveway.jpg I know of no tranny adapter to use the ford T-5 against a chevy bellhousing. Good news is, S-10 trannys arent too hard to find out there in Nebraska farm country, I'd think.
I used a camaro "2 bolt" tranny mount on my Saginaw in my 50 delivery and only had to drill a couple holes to make it work. With a llittle rat-tail file work, those tranny mounts will fit an S-10 T-5 but I'm not sure where the mount will fall in relation to the crossmember...my saginaw mount fell right on top of said crossmember.
I had to fab up all new clutch linkage but you should be able to reuse the old linkage in your delivery.
What are you using for a bell housing? A 50s chevy pickup or car bellhousing should work with the T-5 ok but you may need to cut about 3/8ths inch off the end of the pilot shaft...Oh, and the S-10 tranny mount holes will need to be opened up to pass a 1/2 inch bolt through........they're originally drilled for a smaller metric bolt. If using the pickup bell housing you'll need to use bolts and nuts on the two bottom bolts as neither the trans or the bell housing is threaded.......top holes are threaded in the bellhousing. I've wondered if a guy couldn't just thread the existing 2 bottom holes in the trans for 1/2 inch bolts but I'm not sure exactly what diameter those holes are...might look into it when you get your T-5 trans.
Photo of my old delivery....I ran it up and down I-80 a few times going to Bonneville and the west coast..from Omaha.maybe you saw it, eh? I owned it about 15 years ago.

Sweet ride. The bellhousing is coming out of an old fifties grain truck. That's good info. Thanks much.
