51-53 chevy question

    hey will a stock 53 chevy car standard trans, master cylinder working a 51 with powerglide? if not what do i need to do to make it work? got one for free.

    They should work just fine. Might be a slight diff in the mounting holes but doubt it. Had way too many of those to count.

    my 51 only has one hole and the standard i got has two for the pedal...johnny

    You'll already have the clutch pivot for the master cylinder if you ever decide to convert to a standard trans. We cut the clutch cross shaft off and left it in the master cylinder when we went the V-8/auto route; that way the "lock pin" won't get corroded in place. This was on my nephews, formerly mine, 51 Chevrolet Business Coupe. Other than that, they're essentially the same. Butch/56sedandelivery

    sweet! so just dont use the the top hole? hook everything else up the same?..johnny

    The '53-'54 master is 7/8" bore, earlier is 1'' ... you'll think you added power brakes !
