My brother-in-law is building a '51 Studebaker bullet nose g***er. We took the front clip off yesterday. He was talking about mounting a straight axle (Speedway) onto the frame. I was thinking it would be easier for him to subframe the front with 2x3 tubing. Any one out there straight axled a bullet nose before?
it is much easier to stub it with 2x3 rect tubing from roughly the firewall out. get rid of the big heavy and way ugly front end of that thing. Personally ilikethem not way up in the air maybe the speedway 4 inch drop will put the rockers about 13 inches off the ground with a 26 inch front tire. good luck
Another Washington state Studeg***er? I did the tubing thing. Started it about 7 years ago and damn time flies. It's getting closer.
I found it easier to go with the tubing from the firewall area forward. That Stude stuff is kind of funky. I still need to figure out steering, but the Econoline front and rear axle are all mounted and running big block Ford. G***edbaker on here has a bad *** starlight coupe.
