Upgrading generator to a 1-wire alternator. Late GM model. My 51 Cadillacs wiring has been updated with a TopStreet performance 20 circuit universal harness. That being said the harness instructions show to run the alt-pwr wire from harness to single post on alternator. The instructions for the alternator show to run a 10ga wire direct from alternator to battery. Does is matter either way? Any benefits either way? I have attached pics of both instructions. Just needing clarification. Thanks, Cody
It will work either way but in my opinion 10 gauge isn’t big enough. Or use the 10 gauge in the harness and run an 8 direct to the battery also.
