Projects '51 Cevy Delivery?

Question for all those inliners out there. Recently was lucky in a barn find
and need some opinions on the running gear. The '51 Delivery has a '55
235 motor but original closed drive line. Question is weather to upgrade
to beefed up 6 and open driveline or go the SBC route. Just from some
initial searching it seems like the 6 upgrade is more expensive...

Any ideas/ opinions appreciated!!

Sixes are cool, but your ride is a little on the heavy side. I'd go with a 502 BBC, but a sbc would be killer too. Think low end torque for your new over-weight friend! LOL

 

Maybe a 348 with 3X2????

 

That would be a torque monster! A good friend just put a 3 duece on his 348 ..sounds, looks, and runs great.. Would be a good motor for the look and a crusier! Im in the same boat with my 48 fleetmaster.. im thinkin sub-frame, and a 327..

 

Yeah, I would go with the 348 / 3x2 set up in a heartbeat! That's my little Bro's set-up that Draggin mentioned. Great combo, but still not the 502BBC.
Draggin - I do happen to have a complete 327 sitting in the shop!
