Ok, i haven't gotten to the point where i installed the v8 yet but was curious as to if i can use the factory heater box (mounted on the left side of the inner fender) with a v8 conversion? I am trying to recall chevy v8 conversions and i have not seen one that has the factory heater box. Is the box just to big? Thanks in advance.

2 heater cores? Where is the other one? The lines from the box go to the heater control valve mounted on the firewall. Which is then controled by the lever controls.

incorrect. if he has the deluxe heater the core is in the engine compartment. there is no core inside the car, only the fan, ductwork and the controls. the heater hoses that go into the firewall only go to the valve that opens and lets the water flow into the core.

as for V8 swaps... if it fits at all you will never be able to remove the spark plugs from that side. I have never seen a 49-52 with the deluxe heater with a V8. my car has been apart for so long I don't remember for certain, but I had the deluxe heater all painted and ready to go and then sold it because I determined that it would not work after I bought another car with a V8 already in it with no heater.

the standard heater is easy to find and works just as well. you will need to replace the piece with the core in it with the vent tube from a car with no heater or the standard heater.
