    Hi all,

so I have an issue with the speedometer in my 51 Styleline.

it appears the odometer is working fine and rolling over no problem, however the speedo reads nothing.

I have the unit out of the car and have run it with a drill outside of the casing to try and see how it works, it seems something is slipping or not engaging properly?

anyone have any pointers or literature that could help at all?

    thanks!!!!

everything is bone stock in the car so I assume so.

on the bench the I can’t tell either way? Doesn’t read a speedo either direction but only rolls the odometer in one direction.

Sounds like the speed cup shaft has broken free from the speed cup.

Ah i see, that doesn't sound like an easy fix :(

Edit: OOOoooorrrr Could i get really crude and put a small dab of epoxy to fix the shaft back to the speed cup?

Thankyou for your experienced insight and response though, most appreciated!!

Don’t mean to sound like Mr. Miyagi but alignment and balance are important, you could try but once taken apart you will lose magnetism to the field plate so calibration will be off after you put it back together.

I see, i did think it would likely be more complicated than my simple brain had hoped.

Il probably live with a gps speedo on my smartphone until i can repair or replace the unit.

    Thankyou again.
