Hello everyone. Sorry, More questions! Is the ch***is engineering i.f.s a good bit of kit? my front end on my 51 chevy is pretty shot, so im thinking of biting the bullet and ordering there m11 kit and also there rear end kit? Is everyone pleased, who are using there m11 kit? i want to make the right decision. Also should i order direct or use one of there other suppliers, some people have posted, they made savings going through a 2nd party, im gonna have to get it sent to the uk, so any help with the total cost will be good. Thanks for your time

I would rebuild the stock front end. Unless you wanna lose the old car driving feel and maybe want to put it on bags...

I have used their stuff a couple of times and would do so in the future. found the items i used well engineered and constructed. not familiar with the specific items you have in mind but think you will be happy with them.

X2 - I was real happy with the '36 Ford kits I bought from C.E. Well designed & manufactured.

I used C.E. split wishbone kit and rear spring setup on a '37 Ford and was happy with it. Also used a C.E. four bar front kit and rear spring setup on a '36 Ford and was happy with it. Their stuff seams to fit well. I have not used their independent front kit but it looks right. I'd use them again.

? No welder/fabricators in U.K.? Mustang II front is the easiest of swaps to a 40s-54 Chevy. Might search locally and save $$$$$$$ (or should I say LLLL )

I've used the CE kit. I like it mostly - a couple of issues I have with it are that in order to clear the steering shafts around the crossmember I need an extra u-joint -and I wasn't 100% happy with where the motormounts landed (1" higher would have been perfect) but aside from that it's a well built kit, and you can do the install in a weekend with just hand tools.

The CE kit is bolt in- as was the original front end. There's an advantage to this. These cars have a 'top hat' style frame- the top rails are thin (compared to the bottom plate), and the frame is designed to flex somewhat. Welding the crossmember in (as opposed to bolting it) can lead to stress cracks along the weld, crossmember, frame or all three. With bolt-in style kits this isn't an issue.

I blogged the install - http://1951chevy.blogspot.ca/2010_03_01_archive.html in case you're interested.

Another option is a Jag front end- also near perfect bolt in. http://www.chevytalk.org/fusionbb/showtopic.php?tid/275572/

Lots of info on this stuff tho. Search is your friend!
