This has probably been covered before but here goes. I have a 51 chevy pickup that I'm working on and it has a dropped axle in it with dearched springs well when i pulled the sheetmetal off the front of the truck to do some repairs I noticed my steering arms had been welded on and some later style ends put on but the welds look scary. Does anyone have pics of a properly setup axle like mine.

Are the welds on the topside? I had to do that when we flipped the tie rod to clear the springs on my buddies truck. Or do you mean they cut the ends off completely and welded tapered ends on? I would think the latter would be unsafe as hell myself.

It appears they cut the ends off and welded tapered style ends back on. Its been like this for a long time I just never noticed the welds before. They ground em off on the bottom side but you can see them well on the top. Thats why I wanted to see pics of one done properly with aftermarket tapered tie rods like speedway sells.
