51 Chevy progress!

    I'm I screwed? I just finished the car in bare metal and now shot it with etch primer as seen in photos. I was going to drive it like his for a while and was told by someone that the car will rust and I will have to blast he car again when I want to move forward.is this true? Hopefully not cuz all the chrome is back on

    Rank amateur here Jay, but that's what I've always heard is self-etching primer will not hold up on its own. Needs a high build primer or sealer over it.

    Some more progress. All i need is a few hoses and to put on the plug wires and she is ready to roll.

    Looking great Jay! But BrerHair is correct you should at least get some kind of sealer over top of the etch primer..

    Wow, looking real good, Jay! The windshield height is perfect.

    The old purple '50 is living the high life out here in Calgary, by the way. Drove it to work today, in fact!

    hey Jeff! Good to hear your still happy with the 50. Alberta has a soft spot for 49-54 chevies because i sold this 51 to a guy in drayton valley about a month ago.

    etch primer is just to give the paint someting to stick to on bare metal. i usally wouldnt go very heavy with it either. scuff the car down and spray some seller on it then it should be good.
