    Hello all!
Recently started redoing a 51 SD.
While replacing all the control arm joints,I came upon an issue.....
While the drivers side tie rod end went as planned, the passenger side revealed an issue I am unsure of. The tie rod end and tie rod sleeve are one piece! I can’t just change the end. Is this normal? If so, are drivers side and passenger side sleeves the same length? I have an extra drivers side setup including the sleeve, and wondering if I can just swap them out.

    Thanks in advance

Here's the shop manual, according to it the passenger side tie rod is a solid rod with the driver's side being adjustable. I'm no expert however on face value it appears doable provided that you ensure adjusted length matches the solid tie rod to maintain your OEM geometry. http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/shop/1949_53/index.htm

  3. Yes you can use two adjustable units as long as total length don't change. The Factory just Cheeped out on the passenger side plus you only need one place to adjust Toe In. Having two won't be an issue.
