Alright, the road to GNRS. Tuesday Afternoon I get a call from the detailer that he can't get it started and had to push it back into the shop. All good, I don't have the choke set up properly and it's finicky so that's my fault and makes sense. Wednesday I head to the detail shop to pick it up and drive down to LA. I dial in the hemi with my usual cold start voodoo and hear the fuel pump sounds dry. Sure as anything it has no fuel pressure and the tank is empty. I head to the closest gas station and get a few gallons and drop it in. Things sound good and it starts to turn over when the engine bay and cab fill with SMOKE. Immediately I run to the trunk and hit the battery cut off switch. Race back to the engine to see what the hell is going on and the wire that runs from the ignition switch to the positive side of the coil is completely melted and the coil is leaking oil. Was the wire bad? Was the coil bad? Who knows, but I spend the next 4 hours tearing apart the interior in the detailers parking lot and making trips to auto parts store looking for a coil with the right resistance. Thankfully a random oreily had a red edelbrock coil and some wire and we're back in business. No issues. Thursday Is check-in day at the show. 1 hour before the show I want to get the car warmed up to make sure I don't have any issues when unloading. Normally the drivers door barely clears the inner fender of the trailer but it's no where close to opening today. Look at the front and the drivers side tire is completely FLAT. Panic and get the floor jack under it and rush to the nearest tire shop. Luckily the tire is fine, but the valve stem was super loose so an easy fix. The guys at the tire shop refuse to take payment so shout out to those guys for saving my ***! Get to the show and unload and I'm the last one to arrive in the building. I have to squeeze down the aisle where people walk and then parallel park between two beautiful cars . Headache over, I have a beer (or two) and cruise around the show. This car DID NOT want to be at the show. Kicking and screaming the entire way, but we made it. Outdoor shows from now on!
