Got my headers back from Jet Hot. Pretty damn happy with the shine level for a ceramic coating!

Couldn’t resist a quick mock up with the polished adapters. Should have chrome back in a few weeks and can put it all back together.

Starting filler work next week. Stoked to learn the ropes from my pops.

I like that side trim, what is it? I have a '52 DeSoto wagon, mild custom. Shaved, '59 Imperial grill, '49 Chevy bumpers. The front fenders need "something". 27D5DF93-5007-4189-BBFF-4284956250FF.jpeg

The '51 Plymouths have a "splash" of bright-work on the front fenders; Gate010.jpg

‘52 packard for the side but Jacksmirh is right. There was a lot of good factory stuff for Chrysler/Dodge

Full house with everything in sealer now and starting filler work. Picking up the basics from my old man. I’m a desk jockey by trade so any time I get to learn a hard skill I’m grateful. A bit of a learning experience for both of us since there’s a lot of “well back in my day we did it this way” coming from him!

His projects waiting in the garage are looking mighty fine.

Yeah it works pretty damn good for what it is. Could use another exhaust fan which I’ll probably add when it comes time to paint the car. It needs to be tied down real good. Had a gust of wind and almost wrecked the whole day of work.

Spent the weekend finishing one door up to putty and blocking to 120. Learning to trust the guide coat because it doesn’t lie. I now understand why complete paint and body costs as much as it does. This was at the end of Saturday.

  12. I did much of the bodywork on a 48 DeSoto the guy I bought my 53 Bel Air from had. Hood alone took a ridonkeyless amount of time. Cars still isn't as nice as yours received_202571848166192.jpeg

This is going to be extraordinary, I do like your original color selection but still it’s going to be awesome.

Appreciate it. I change my mind on color every time I look at the car, but finally had to commit to something!

  17. Oh yeah one thing I loved about the car. Before he showed me the car after he had it painted he mentioned not being sure about the color. First thing I thought when I saw it was that it looked like a cool life-size hot wheel. Pics don't do the color justice

Weekend progress. Made a few rookie mistakes that cost me half a day but glad I spent the time taking it back to zero and fixing it. Brain running on limited coffee + cold panel + not enough hardener + forgetting to scuff up the surface = absolute mess.

The chop was done across a few shops and not by me so no useful process pics unfortunately. Sorry man wish I could be more helpful.

Work continues. Doing all the areas no one will look unless they’re nosy.

Sanding will continue until morale improves. Cowl kicked my ass this weekend. Lots of waves and wrinkles with no great way to get a dolly on the back.

Thank you sir. I think it's unique and hope other folks enjoy it.

I went to drop off the grill for chrome the other day and apart from having a heart attack when I saw the price the owner of the shop said "man, I love these old mercs". I suppose there will be a lot of those comments in the future!
