Got a 51 Coronet 6v flathead 6 cyl looking to replace points to electronic ignition has any one done this cheers Sent from my iPad using H.A.M.B.
Keep it 6v + ground and I don't think there is an electronic ignition for it. But, you really don't need it. The stock ignition is very reliable, you might want to check the points and plugs once a year but that is about it. I have had similar cars, and electronic ignition is the last thing I would worry about.
Check with pertronix not sure. But great reliable engine, fluid drive transmission in it? Put a good tune up in it with points and you will drive a long time. Had a 53 Chrysler and installed an 8 volt battery, tweaked the regulator so the generator would charge at 8 volts and that was it great reliable car Drove it 3 years as my daily in the summer no issues We like pics...... post some pics !
Later.... I spoke too soon. Pertronix makes a 6V + ground ignitor . A quick web search turned this up. https://www.amazon.ca/Pertronix-1362P6-Positive-Chrysler-Cylinder/dp/B001CMX3QS I think this is something new, a few years ago they did not make 6v + gnd.
Keep a set of points and condenser and a "how to" pamphlet in your trunk or glove box, it doesn't take much space and you won't be stuck on the road if there ever is a failure.
