Hello Pist-n-broke Thanks for caring,They removed 10 inches from his intestines and the lymph nodes and the cancer had not spread. He is a survivor as he had cancer tumors about 30 years back in his shoulder and liver and survived that with gamma radiation and chemo. I will pass your well wishes to him And I know he will appreciate it. I think you are correct a friend of mine let me drive his freshly restored 1950 shoebox quite a few years back and I remember that the brakes were good. I`m too far along to try to fix the old brakes I already bought a disc set and dual master. Today I bought the rest of the parts that I will need to do the conversion. I will take my time doing it making sure I don`t make a mistake. I`m going to be around and will ask questions from you experienced guys. thanks. Juan
Hello warhorse My younger brother was my mother`s favorite and I know that in heaven she will be very happy that I`m taking care of him.We were told that they removed the cancer and that it had not spread. Thanks for your comments they are appreciated. Juan
Howdy folks. Been a while. Cleaned out a spot in my garage today and I've been accumulating parts. First major undertaking is redoing the under-dash wiring harness to see if that remedies some of my gauges. Also replacing the speedo cable while I'm at it. When I cranked her she fired a half gallon of water out of the tailpipe. Seems to just be water. No oil or antifreeze smell so I think I just had the cover on in such a way that it was running rain water into the tailpipe. Ran for about 30 seconds and went dead then wouldn't catch back up again. Giving it a minute to see if I just flooded it by leaving the choke on. Haven't tried to run the car since it's been hot outside so it might just be that she didn't need it. In the meantime, I want to confirm how the temp gauge is supposed to work on these cars. For me, it starts at H and when I turn the key halfway on or if the car's running, it starts slowly moving up toward C. Just want to be sure that's normal. Also, I've got the instructions that came with the wiring harness and the PDF of the Ford Shop Manual, but if anyone has links to step-by-step processes or youtube videos detailing the wiring harness replacement, that'd be a major help. Cheers. Hopefully pics by this afternoon of some parts removed and pieces cleaned up.
My Model A was pumping water when I first got it. It turned out the crank case was entirely full of water, and turning it over was pushing it past the rings and out the exhaust. You're probably right, but make extra sure you don't have a block full of water before you proceed. An oil change costs 15 bucks and could save your engine. Water can get in in a number of ways.
Is there any easy way to check this if I don't have the parts for an oil change on hand? It has been under a cover since I last drove it.
Thanks. I'll double check that and go ahead and get the stuff to change the oil tomorrow anyways (while picking up a 6v charger).
We have had an awfully cold winter. A little bit of fluid looks like a lot. 1/2 gallon will look like the Pacific in such a situation. Lets hope it was much much less. The brutal cold we had late winter concerns me. Mississippi and points west through Texas got the worst of it. It was plenty cold enough to freeze and bust a block, even one with anti freeze in it. Check your coolant, if the coolant is gone, there will you know.
