I came across an industrial flathead from 1951. Looks in excellent shape. Runs great. Has been taken care of from appearance .... What all is different on these?? I planned on adapting it to my 34 ford trans .. What all is needed to do that ?
Thanks guys ..... I already did the search. A few decent ones came up but nothing real informative .

You will need the F-1 3 spd adaptor and clutch inspection pan. You should be able to pick them up for about $100. There was a thread showing the differences in the adaptors, but I do not have time to do a search for it right now. Rod

To the best of my knowledge there are no internal differences. I would suggest make an appearance on the Ford Barn. Those guys real speak Flat Motor.

It should be basically a truck engine of same year. Any differences will be external stuff like governors, clutch, etc.

If it was an engine made in 1951 it will be in the 8BA family that has no bell on the back. If it was manufactured outside of FoMoCo it may have an older 59 series engine. It just depends on whether it is a genuine Ford unit or some other manufacturer. If it's an 8BA series, It would be interesting to know if it has the truck rear sump pan with the clean out or something else.
