Hi Guys. My brother ordered a replacement water pump for the Big V8 Flathead in his 1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan from a company called MKII (i believe). They told him that the pump they sold was the only one for the Cosmo, and when he got it, the pump fits, but the pulley is all wrong (alignment with other pulleys, and groove width too wide)... Did he just get ripped off by someone who didn't know about what pump the car took or what? Know of any suppliers that have a pulley that would fit the new pump (provided the one that's on can be pressed off)? When he first got the car, y'all helped with the name of a company for the hydraulic power window pistons and I appreciate any help or info.
Big Ford trucks used that engine as well (like the 2 1/2 ton ones) I wouldn't doubt the pump is from one of those, used the same pump but with a different pulley. Might have to swap out pulleys.
You might have to.................. Expose the pump impeller, where you can support the shaft, and press, or pull, the pulley flange, of the proper amount needed for alignment with the other pulley's...........Is the pump sheave, (pulley), bolted on?
